Hydro Demolition Process

Hydro Demolition Services

Gnat UK Limited have recently expanded their operations to include Hydro-Demolition:- the removal of concrete using high pressure water jets. The benefit of this procedure lies in its ability to remove the concrete whilst leaving the reinforcing intact. Having successfully trialled a range of equipment and procedures on a series of projects we can now offer a number of fully trained teams to carry out hydro demolition procedures.

Hydro Demolition provides another method of removing concrete etc. without exposing operatives to harmful vibration thus helping to eliminate the debilitating effects of Hand Arm Vibration (HAV) and Vibration White Finger (VWF).

Robotic Hydrodemolition utilises high-pressure water jets to quickly and efficiently remove concrete without damaging the surrounding structures and the embedded steel reinforcement bar, A jet of high-pressure water is directed at the surface of the concrete where it penetrates the voids and micro-cracks. When the water pressure inside the voids overcomes the pressure of the concrete a "blast" occurs, removing damaged or poor quality concrete from sensitive structures such as bridges, dam walls, tunnels, docks, harbours, multi-storey car parking decks and runways. The Hydrodemolition robot machine is suitable for all operations such as horizontal, vertical and on over-head situations due to the flexibility of the robot boom system. This also features operations in confined areas without limitations due to the compact and free manoeuvrable design.
