Isolating and removing a 2600mm × 2600mm × 575mm reinforced concrete slab in just one shift with Gnat UK's HILTI Diamond Sawing Team.

Removing a single intact slab of this size is a track-saw exercise. The cuts are made with a diamond track saw running on a guide rail anchored to the slab. For a slab of this depth, the saw makes opposing cuts to free the perimeter, then the block is rigged for crane removal in one piece.

Compared with breaking the same slab into rubble, the cut-and-lift approach is faster on programme, generates effectively no dust, eliminates vibration in adjacent structure, and produces a clean substrate edge for the rebuild crew. The trade-off is the rigging arrangement: a multi-tonne block needs a planned lift path and an appropriate crane.
